A Millennial Celebration" |
"My Millennium Quilt"
machine pieced
Quiltmaker: Alice Wallenberg
Artist's Statement: "To the family of Daniel Browning, my wonderful son. To my Grandchildren and
Great-Grandchildren. I am your Grannie Alice and I made this millennium
quilt for you. It is called that in honor of this new Century 2000 and also
because there are 2000 pieces of fabric in this quilt. The ladies in the
blocks below traded this fabric with me. They are some of my Internet
Quilting Friends. I made this quilt for you in March 1999 and I plan to
sleep under it on December 31, 1999. None of you are born yet, but if I
could, I would give you lots of hugs and kisses and homemade cookies. I put
all of my love for you into this quilt and when you sleep under it I want
you to feel soft and cuddled and very very loved.
This quilt is made up of 2000 2.5" charms, including a charm of the blue
2000 fabric border and binding. I made this quilt for my grand and great-grandchildren which I do not have yet. I made
this quilt so that they could see how I celebrated the new millennium."
