Artist's Statement: "Friendship stars represent the internet friendships formed during the swap for this quilt--some fleeting, others to last a lifetime. The plain white back serves as a guest book for those who sleep under it. Stars are arranged in alphabetical order by state followed by twenty one foreign countries.

I swapped 12+1 in which the 12 was either 8 lights and 4 darks or 8 darks and 4 lights. The fabrics then determined whether the star was light on dark or dark on light. To the best of my knowledge, all sigs are from quilters except one. On my birthday (Jan. 11, 1999), I took a sig square to my local post office and received a postmark and the signatures of 4 postal workers who handled all my squishies."
